Alfa Romeo 8C is one of those limited edition cars that have gained immense popularity among the elite class of people across the world. The Alfa Romeo 8C is produced by a the Italiand auto maker Alfa Romeo 8C and is classified as a sports car. The 8C refers to the eight cylinder engine of the car. The car made its first appearance into the world as a concept car and it was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003. In 2007 came the first official announcement of the car for production. Alpha Romeo 8C has two variants - Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione and Alpha Romeo 8C Spider.

The Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione concept car - 2003:
The Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione was first introduced as a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This twin seater car reflected the styles of the Alfa cars in the 1950s and 1960s.The car was driven by Juan Manuuel Fangio and Augusto Zanardi in the 1950 Mille Miglia race and came third. It came first in the 1950 Targa Florio. After this, though a prototype with 3.0 liter was built, it was never produced.
The Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione Production version - 2007:
Alfa Romeo announced the production of a limited series of 500 units of The Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione cars. The production varied in exterior from the concept car in the rear hinged hood. A few other difference from the concept car included front light with Xenon lamps, a mesh side vent and the rim designed that looked like the cloverleaf logo. The body shell is made of carbon fiber from ITCA Produzione. The car was assembled finally at Maserati factory in Modena, Italy.The care came in the following colors - Alpha Red, Black, Red Yellow and Special Competition Red. Colors like Fuji White, Blue Avio, Blue Oceano, Grigio Nu were available on additional charges. Owing to the striking features of this twin seater and high performance, the Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione found its place on the main sculpture at the 2010 Goowood Festival of Speed.
The car uses a Modified Maserati platform and the peak engine performance of the car are a maximum power of 33 kilowatts at 7000 revolutions per minute. The car records a peak torque of 480 newton meters at 4750 rpm. The programmed six-speed transaxle gearbox may be used in Manual-Normal, Manual-Spot, Automatic-Normal, Automatic Sport and Wet modes. The official top speed is announced to be 292 kilometers per hour.
Alpha Romeo 8C Spider - Concept Car
The Alpha Romeo 8C Spider was introduced at the 2005 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance as a roadster version of Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione. The Spider was announced to enter into production by Sergio Marchionne on September 25, 2007.
Alpha Romeo 8C Spider - Production Version - 2008:
This production version was introduced at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show and the production actually began in 2009 by Maserati in Modena, Italy. Brembo carbon-ceramic units are used on the brakes and the two layered fabric roof can be electrically operated. The windshield is made of carbon fiber. The control-arm suspension is lifted from the GranTurismo that generates 444 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.The specifications of the rear wheels are 285/35ZR-20 Pirelli P Zero tires. The 8C Spider won the "Best Sounding Car" in October 2011. The peak speed of 8C Spider is 290 Kilometres per hour.Spider weighs 198 pounds more than the Competizione. The 8c Spider comes with Recaro seats have manual adjustments and are made of carbon fiber, that also fills the cabin. The cabin interior looks classy and carries the perfume of Poltrona Frau leather.
When the official announcement was made that the Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione would enter production, Alfa Romeo 8C had about 1400 orders. However, only 500 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione reached the customer and the others were offered the Alpha Romeo 8C Spider.
