FERRARI ENZO: FEATURES THAT MADE IT ONE OF THE AMAZING CAR
Ferrari Enzo Supercar named after the founder of the Company Enzo Ferrari was introduced in the market in the year 2002. Ferrari is one company that has carved a niche in the market because of its beautiful and alluring supercars designs. The 12 cylinder mid- engine Berlinetta sports car is based on the Formula one technology such as the carbon- fiber body, electrohydraulic shift transmission, and disc brakes that are carbon- fiber reinforced silicon carbide ceramic composite. The car made the world go gaga over it. The red colored beauty, zooming on the roads, seems like a site out of an imaginary world of beauty.
However, all the components of the car are not based on the Formula one technology, such as the active aerodynamics and traction control. The car weighs around 1700 lbs. and can conquer the speed of 300 km/ hour. This is a downforce of the car, which can be maintained by a computer located on the rear wings of the car. Shifting our focus on to the engine, the Enzo F140 B V12 engine was the first advanced engine in this version of Ferrari. The engine of this car got its inspiration from the engine fitted in the Maserati's Quattroporte clubbed in with 104 mm of bore spacing. However, this design faded over time and the modernized architectures of the engines came in to place, which were the V12 and V8 engines. The F430 version of Ferrari, which was introduced in the year 2005, witnessed the engine from the new power plant.
PRODUCTION OF THE CAR:
The designing of the car was done by Ken Okuyama, Japanese and presently a head designer at Pininfarina. The Enzo Ferrari was brought to light in the year 2002, at the Paris Motor Show. While the discussions regarding the production of the car were going on, it was decided to bring out only 399 models of the Enzo Ferrari car in the market. These 399 Enzo's were seen with a price tag of US $659, 330. All the consumers of the Ferrari car were presented with an invitation to the Paris Motor Show and especially those who and bought F40 and F50. The car was a super hit in the market and managed to grab the eyeballs of all the car enthusiasts. Because of such an overwhelming review of the car, the company decided to introduce 50 more Enzo's in the market. Thus, the total production of the Enzo's came down to 449.
When the Enzo was being showcased to the public eye at Paris Motor Show, before that the car was flown from Italy to the U.S., as the car was to feature in the movie Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and was driven by Demi Moore on the beach. The car was then flown to France, to be presented at the Motor Show.
The production of the Enzo's started in the year 2002. However, in the year 2004, the company managed to produce a 400th model of the car, which was given away to Vatican City as a token of Charity. Later, this model of the car was given away for monetary gains at a Sotheby’s Auction amounting to 1.1 million dollars.
FEATURES OF THE CAR:
This one is a rear mid-engine vehicle and has got appropriate front and rear weight distribution. The engine of this car has got a V12 engine and the cylinders fitted in the car come with 4 valves each. The engine is naturally aspirated and a fuel injection is used in the car. The amazing features of the engine of the car make it one of the magnificent car on the market.
Suspension, Gear Box, and Brakes:
The car is equipped with a semi-automatic transmission. This uses the paddles to operate the automatic clutch shift mechanism along with automated shifting. The steering wheel is clubbed in with LED lights. The reason behind this is that the driver will be informed about the gear change with the help of this light. The gearbox has got a shift timing of 1500 milliseconds. Injecting the clutchless design from the bygone era of 1990, had a certain amount of hiccups in the usage.
The performance of the car is undoubtedly superb and it can go from 60 mph to 100 mph in 6.6 seconds. The performance of the car was excellent and it was then tested by Evo magazine at Nordschleife Circuit.
ACCLAMATIONS OF THE CAR
The Enzo Ferrari was listed down in the top list of 2000's car and it came third in the queue. Then the other magazine namely Motor Trend Classic, penned down this one in the Greatest Ferrari's of an all-time list at number four.
