FORD GT REVIEW
The Ford GT is a car coming from the American manufacturers and is mid-engine two seater sports car. This model of the car marked the model year 2005 for the Ford Company along with the company's 2003 centenary. Further, this was redesigned in the year 2017 from the model form. This car is the epitome of the achievements of the Ford company and talks about the four-time consecutive winners of 24 hours of LeMans.
FIRST GENERATION OF THE CAR (2004-2006)
The model of the car came into development when the company thought of this as a concept car. Further, they decided that this model of the concept car shall mark their history of some amazing cars in the market from their manufactures such as The Mustang and The Thunderbird. In the year of 1995, at the Detroit Motor Show, the company showcased the GT90 model of the car. Then, by the end of the year 2002, the company unveiled their GT40 concept car.
The inspiration for the Ford GT came from the Ford GT40 model of the earlier days, but again it bears very little similarity to the model. For instance, if we have a visual perception of these cars, they will come with way too many similarities, but structurally, there were hardly any similarities. Since this one was the concept car and it was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the company. The left side headlight cluster of the car was designed in such a way that it reads as number 100.
PRODUCTION AND SALES:
This model of the car came out in the year 2005 and 2006 and the first customers were delivered with the car in the year 2004, August. The car is equipped with an engine built by the Ford’s Romeo Engine Plant in the city of Michigan. Just the installation and the manual transmission added with the interior finishing of the car were done by the Ford’s Michigan Plant.
The company had planned on to the production of the car as 4500 GT's however, 100 GT's were to be transported to Europe in the year 2005. Then some 200 of these models were to be given to the Canadian customers. However, the production of this model of the car was stopped in the year 2006. In total, some 4038 cars were produced. The other 11 car bodies were not used as the showroom models and were disassembled. The frames and the body panels were sold off as service parts to the various consumers.
Although the production of the car stopped in the year 2006 and the production at the Michigan Power plant came down by the year 2007, the last models of the car were sold in 2007 as dealer’s inventories. During the whole paraphernalia revolving around this concept car, it was featured on the cover of the video game Gram Turismo 4 and was also showcased in the Need for Speed: Pro Street version. Further, the car came out as a toy model for the Transformers series. The car holds the Top Gear award for the Best Guzzler in the year 2005.
PERFORMANCE AND ENGINEERING OF THE CAR:
Way too many new and unique technologies were injected into the car products such as the aluminum body panels, roll- bonded floor panels, capsule fuel- filler system, one- piece door panels etc. The brakes of the car are four-piston aluminum Brembo calipers along with the cross- drilled and vented rotors at all the four corners of the car. If you will open the rear canopy of the car, the engine and the rear suspension components are visible.
This car has given off some of the most stunning performance experiences and some of the speed records since the time of introduction. Currently, the car comes under the category of the fastest card with a top speed of 293.6 mph. The top speed version of the car came into acceptance when the car was modified with the 5.4L V8 paired twin- turbo induction system and a methanol injection which is capable of an output of approx. 2500 hp.
