Quote from Ford Mustang Wiki : The Vehicle With The Longest Production History :
Fourth Generation (1994 – 2004)
The platform used for this generation was based on Fox design and was called SN-95. Both the exteriors and interiors got completely new designs and the hatchback body style was dropped. Two engines, V6, 3.8 liter and V8, 5.0 liter, were available in these cars. However, these engines were replaced by 4.6 liter V8 engine in 1996. Performance of the vehicle, in terms of suspension, noise, vibration and transmission was improved drastically, which helped the vehicle earn the Car of the Year in 1994. Mustang Cobra also made a comeback with some design changes and a new engine. In 1999, New Edge styling theme of Ford was applied. The engine remained the same, but improved the car performance over the years. In 2001, special editions of the Mustang like Bullitt, etc., were launched by the company.
